As an education professional for the past 28 years, I have held many roles but the constant has been the joy I feel working with students. After receiving my MA in education from Teacher’s College at Columbia University in 1998, I began my career in the classroom at Manhattan's  P.S. 116. While teaching, I began to serve as a literacy consultant. After moving to Ridgewood, New Jersey in 2004, I focused solely on consulting and worked as a literacy coach throughout Bergen County. However, from the beginning of my career, I have privately coached students in all areas of writing. 

Over the past several years, I have gradually shifted to helping students with college application essays. My aim has always been to try to take the anxiety out of the “college essay” and for students to have a writing experience that is process based, student centered and even enjoyable! As an educator, I believe the best writing comes from a student's own style and not trying to fit into a formulaic mold.

Once I decided to make the shift to college counseling, I enrolled in UCLA’s extension program to receive a certificate in college counseling. I took classes that covered inclusivity, diverse needs, testing, and financial aid. I completed a practicum at Garfield High School, guiding students in all aspects of their applications.

As a college counselor, my goal is to coach students and families toward decisions that fit them best. We’ll go through every step of the process together, from brainstorming to clicking “submit” to preparing for life on campus. I strive to make sure students feel confident in their writing, application and decisions through every step. I find great pleasure in shepherding students through a process that is initially overwhelming, yet develops into something rewarding and exciting.
